Tech Lead - Azure Databricks

Mission

• We are seeking an experienced Tech Lead / Lead Data Engineer for a consulting assignment focused on building and leading a new data engineering team.
• The mission is to design, develop, and establish scalable data products on a modern, cloud-based data platform, making data more accessible, reliable, and value-driven for the business.
• This role emphasizes long-term sustainability, strong engineering practices, and solutions that can be efficiently operated and maintained over time.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and coach a team of data engineers, fostering high performance and technical excellence
• Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions, data architectures, and data products
• Design and develop data solutions using Azure Databricks and modern cloud data platforms
• Ensure high quality, usability, documentation, and reliability of delivered data products
• Establish and promote best practices, technical standards, and reusable patterns
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders, IT, and operations to align solutions with business needs
• Support handover, adoption, and long-term management of solutions by other teams
• Contribute to building sustainable ways of working, including development processes and governance models

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience leading data engineering teams and delivering solutions on Azure Databricks
• Strong ability to translate business needs into technical designs and data architectures
• Excellent communication skills with experience bridging business and IT
• Demonstrated experience in coaching teams and establishing effective working methods

Additional / Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and data governance
• Experience handing over solutions to operations or platform teams
• Background in working within agile, cross-functional teams
