Assignment Overview

We are seeking a Backend Engineer

What You Will Work On

• Execute the VCS infrastructure strategy serving 3,000+ engineers and hundreds of thousands of daily builds.
• Support operational tasks to keep large-scale systems healthy, secure, and updated.
• Develop backend systems that automate workflows and enhance software development efficiency.
• Drive automation and continuous improvement across Version Control Systems within diverse technical stacks.
• Collaborate with global infrastructure teams to define and implement best-in-class VCS infrastructure.
• Maintain auxiliary services including team syncing between Octa and GitHub, automated code merging, and assigning code reviewers.

What You Bring

• Extensive experience in Java backend development and Linux system fundamentals.
• Deep understanding of networking, HTTP protocols, and cloud orchestration.
• Cloud proficiency with Google Cloud (preferred) or AWS and Kubernetes experience.
• Git/VCS expertise: GitHub administration/operations preferred; GitLab experience is a strong advantage.
• Experience working with AI tooling and AI-driven developer productivity tools.
• 6+ years building and implementing large-scale systems in complex projects.
• Strong communication skills, autonomy, and a focus on collaboration with global teams.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and robust delivery practices.
• Bonus: Experience with data engineering or large-scale data processing.
